Hoodoo Foundations: Back to the Roots *** This is course is for closed practice, meaning that you must be of Afro-Indigenous or African American descent WITH DNA and spiritual alignment. A 8-Week Group Learning Experience for Beginners, Practitioners, and Those Ready to Reconnect With the Foundation Whether you are brand new to Hoodoo, have been practicing for years, or simply feel like you've gotten away from the foundation, this course is an opportunity to come back to the roots. Hoodoo is more than spells, candles, herbs, oils, and rituals. Before the work comes the foundation. In Hoodoo Foundations: Back to the Roots, we will explore the fundamental principles that help create a grounded and intentional spiritual practice, including community, ancestral veneration, spiritual hygiene, shadow work, discernment, divination, ritual, and rootwork. This is not a course designed to overwhelm you with hundreds of spells or recipes. Instead, we will focus on understanding why we do the work, how to approach it responsibly, and how to develop the confidence to build or rebuild your own practice. We will explore: • The foundations and cultural roots of Hoodoo • Ancestral veneration and developing an ancestral practice • Community, spiritual responsibility, and reciprocity • Shadow work and examining your intentions • Spiritual hygiene, cleansing, grounding, and protection • Working with different energies and maintaining spiritual boundaries • Divination tools and developing discernment • Ritual and rootwork • Candles, herbs, oils, waters, roots, prayers, petitions, and other traditional tools • Understanding the difference between ritual, prayer, rootwork, and what is commonly called “spell work” • Creating a sustainable personal Hoodoo practice • Knowing when to work, when to wait, and when to seek guidance This course is for all levels. You do not need to consider yourself a Hoodoo practitioner to participate. If you're beginning your journey, this course gives you a foundation. If you've been practicing for a while, this course gives you an opportunity to return to the roots, strengthen your understanding, and reconnect with the “why” behind your practice.
